About Shanks Waste Management’s Educational Outreach Programme

We have a purpose built education centre in South Kirkby where we deliver educational events for schools and communities and also go out to visit local groups to deliver interactive workshops and talks. Last year we delivered 144 events across the Wakefield area and worked with over 4500 people. The scope of the programme is broad, we work with adult groups, primary schools, secondary schools, scouts, guides, groups with learning disabilities and anyone who may value from our work. We also run a number of specific campaigns throughout the year which are targeted around specific issues.
